Introduction
Maria is Sapphire’s Business and Compliance Manager, working closely with Emma and the team behind the scenes to support the clinic’s high standards of governance, safety and compliance.
Professional Background
Before joining Sapphire, Maria had an accomplished career across education, aviation and public safety. She began as a maths teacher in Glasgow before joining the Royal Air Force as an Air Traffic Control Officer, where she served for 16 years.
She later worked with the UK’s aviation regulator and became CEO of one of its subsidiary companies, responsible for safety and security oversight across the UK’s Overseas Territories. After 14 years in that role, Maria retired in 2023 and was awarded an MBE in recognition of her work.
Role at Sapphire
Maria joined Sapphire after recognising the same commitment to safety, standards and professionalism that shaped her aviation career. Her role supports the clinic in maintaining robust processes, governance and compliance, ensuring patients can feel confident in the standards behind their care.
Patient Experience
While much of Maria’s work happens behind the scenes, her contribution plays an important part in the Sapphire experience. Her attention to detail, professionalism and commitment to high standards help support the safe, trustworthy and welcoming environment patients appreciate.
